Smothered Sirloin, rice and gravy and baby lima beans
Smothered Sirloin, rice and gravy and baby lima beans
2 lbs. sirloin steak
1 large yellow onion
1/2 bell pepper
2 teaspoons garlic
32 oz. beef broth
3 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
3 tablespoons of white vinegar
Cut up steak and place it in a large bowl. Add Worcestershire sauce and white vinegar to steak and mix it really well. Heat vegetable oil in a large pot. I like to use my oval Magnalite pot. Add steak to the hot oil. Season steak with salt, black pepper, red pepper, garlic powder and onion powder. Brown one side really well and flip. Season that side with the same seasonings. After steak is a nice brown add the onions, bell peppers and garlic. Brown for another 10 minutes. After onions are clear add about 2 cups of water and the beef broth. Cover and simmer on a medium heat for about 2 hours or until steak is tender. Make sure you keep an eye on your gravy. If it gets too low add a little more water.
